Skygarden from Flos
The Flos Skygarden is an award winning design from Marcel Wanders (2007). The design was awarded the Red Dot award as well as the Edida 2008 award. The Flos Skygarden is a suspension lamp providing diffused lighting and exists of a hemispherical, cast plaster diffuser, painted white inside. Outer finish of Flos Lighting Skygarden: rust, glossy black, glossy white or matte gold.
Marcel Wanders’ inspiration
Marcel Wanders found his inspiration for this wonderful suspension lamp Flos Skygarden in his former house. The white ceiling was decorated with florid ornaments. He called this ceiling: my Skygarden. It was his indoor garden, a garden without the need of water, sun or care. When moving houses he didn’t want to leave his ceiling, so he took it with him and shared it with us in this fabulous design, Flos Skygarden.
Flos Skygarden: light intensity adapted to the moment
When it comes to the light itself, the Flos Skygarden suspension works with a 150 W lamp that can be controlled through the integrated Mauvis dimmer (not all skygarden products have a dimmer !) or wireless if you also choose to buy the Flos Cubo. This dimmer is located inside a polycarbonate rose and that facilitates the process of changing the light intensity on spot. On the other hand you can also use the wireless Flos Cubo controller to control the light intensity wirelessly and with no effort. The Flos Skygarden comes ready with the radio frequency receiver that receives the signals from the cubo controller in order to turn down or turn up the light intensity. The Flos Cubo has the option of entering several presets and recalling them with a single touch on one of the surfaces of the Cubo
A lighting miracle
Flos Skygarden creates an almost sacred atmosphere. The half spherical shape of Flos Skygarden reminds one of a dome, and the plaster decorations on the inside of Skygarden could appear in a church. The light is reflected against the relief decorations. The ornaments catch the attention, while the whole room profits from the beautiful light of Skygarden.
